100 Ringe A series of rings arose out of a
sequence of experiments. With a hand driven tabletop casting machine I produced
most of these rings. Small found objects were starting points for the forms.
Most of them were made out of plastic. Partly only the print of the found
item generates the form partly the found object is cast together with the
ring. In the second case the two ends of one stripe of wax enclose the found
object or grow out of it. Traces of the working process stay visible. The
little sprue serves as a pedestal to display the finished ring. To wear a
ring this pedestal is cut off. The oxides stay on the ring until the wearer
uses them up with the time. I carried
on the idea of the imprint. I allowed to develop swellings out of a metal
strip. Through the working process arose embossed shapes. I wanted to leave
the marks from the labour. They are part of the process. The final shapes
flatter the hand and invoke connotations. |
